Lachlan Denton – Two Months In Ben Woolley's Room | Indie Pop / Jangle Pop | BBI-005
Lachlan Denton is a Melbourne-based musician known as the drummer and key songwriter of The Ocean Party, the beloved Australian indie band that released eight full-length studio albums in just seven years before disbanding in 2019 following the tragic loss of Lachlan's brother and bandmate, Zac Denton.
Two Months In Ben Woolley's Room (2018) is Lachlan's debut full-length solo album, conceived during a period of recovery from the end of a long-term relationship. Recorded in his friend Ben Woolley's room, the album captures an intimate, stripped-down sound—sad, fearful, and slightly hopeful. Simple, concise songs with guitars that rock you gently, without fuss, without haste, with care.
His solo work maintains a wistful jangle reminiscent of The Go-Betweens and Felt, while also channeling the spirit of Lloyd Cole, R.E.M., and Real Estate. As the first solo album on Bobo Integral, this release marked the label's return after a three-year hiatus.
